🚔 London, ON police address public regarding 2018 sexual assault
Today the London, Ontario police department held a press conference to discuss the 2018 sexual assault involving five then hockey Canada players. Chief Thai Truong and Detective Katherine Dann of the London police informed the public of the updated status of the case since the complaint of an assault nearly six years ago. They confirmed the surrender of the five players.
Chief Truong stated there were insufficient grounds to originally bring charges in 2019, resulting in the case being closed. He then stated that in 2022 a the investigation was re-opened as a result of new evidence and additional interviews with witnesses that was a driving force to the filing of the current charges.
On Friday, during his press conference at the NHL All-Star Weekend, Commissioner Bettman said he does not believe the NHL players will return to their teams this season.
